Here's a bit of history for you. Brazil has the largest Japanese population (1.5 million) outside of Japan. Over 150,000 Japanese immigrated to Brazil from the early 1900's up through WWII.
During the 1980's, a number of Japanese Brazilians started immigrating to Japan...and now Japan has the largest Portuguese speaking population in Asia.
What does all of this mean?
First, it explains why there are so many Brazilian restaurants in Japan and why every ATM gives you the choice of Japanese, English and Portuguese. Second, it means we got to sample some very good food at the Brazilian festival in Yoyogi koen (park) this weekend.
Once again, the blog's inability to convey smells puts the burden on us. Let's just say there's nothing sweeter than an entire park filled with the fragrance of charcoal grills and barbecued meats. Yum!
Being that it's only early September - it was still hot as heck outside so we started off with a papaya and yogurt drink before diving into a plate of beef, chorizo and anything else that comes from a cow or pig.
After consuming a few million calories we decided to walk for a 
little while when we came across this little park in the middle of Harujuku. Have you ever seen goldfish this big?! Cue up the Jaws music. Actually, there was a cat prowling around so they can't be that intimidating.
