We flew from Rome to start the second half of our honeymoon. Nicole was happy to get to a sandy destination. After we arrived, we dropped off our bags and made our way out to explore the city. We walked into the town center in search of dinner and found a lovely wine bar. Our first night in our new location was great. Good food and wine and a lovely walk along the beach.
After a few hours of riding, we decided that we most likely were not going to get to our destination and turned back. Even if we had gotten there, we needed to walk down a ridiculous amount of stairs to get to the grotto (654) and then walk back up the stairs and then ride back to the hotel (with jello legs). If you look to the right of Nicole's head (above the green bush) you will see a rock formation in the distance. That is the grotto! 
The next day we spent some time by
the pool but headed into town when it was time for lunch. We found our way to Il Ghiotto, a local deli and wine bar. We each grabbed a glass of a local red and settled in over a plate of octopus in red sauce and fava beans with onion. Yum!

After lunch we spent a lot of time exploring the narrow, cobblestone streets of Alghero. There were so many great pictures to take.
It was a bit cool the next day so we skipped the pool and went for a run. After the run, we spent some time exploring the grounds of the hotel. Later in the day we headed back into town and grabbed some lunch. We then walked to the local bike shop and rented two of their coolest bikes.After being on bikes for a week straight we missed our two wheeled friends.
With our cool, new rides we were able to cover more ground and explore the many public beaches. We grabbed towels at our hotel pool and were on our way. We spent a few hours at the Viale Primo Maggio reading and relaxing.
The following day we decided to ride our bikes to Neptune's Grotto. The grotto is one of Alghero's biggest attractions. Most people take a nice, scenic boat ride from the port to the grotto. We, on the other hand, are not most people and decided that it would be nice to ride to our bikes to the grotto. We thought it would be completely doable. We underestimated the distance as well the climbs (the hills were killer).
After a few hours of riding, we decided that we most likely were not going to get to our destination and turned back. Turning around was a bit of a let down but, on the way back to the hotel, we stopped at Spiaggia del Lazzaretto (and snapped some lovely pictures) to relax and refuel (thank goodness for trail mix).
Unfortunately, we can't remember the specifics of the rest of our trip but we do remember that our time in Alghero was fantastic (maybe we should keep a diary next time). If we tried to describe the week we would most likely say: we ate lots of great food (especially seafood), drank a ton of local wine, walked or rode our bikes everywhere and caught up on our reading.
