April is Sakura (Cherry Blossom) time! We headed over to Inokashita Park for some hardcore Hanami viewing.
The peak bloom occurred on a weekend so all of the prime viewing spots were packed. As you can see, virtually all of Tokyo had a picnic spot picked out.

The star of the show - the Cherry Blossom. This one wanted to take a quick dip in the lake.

Even the turtles in Japan get caught up in the Sakura frenzy. This guy had one of the more enviable viewing spots.

We're not exactly sure what kind of flower this is but they're all over Tokyo and they were in full bloom as well.

Everyone takes pictures of the Cherry Blossoms. Interestingly, most Japanese use their cell phone camera and then head to their neighborhood convenience store to print pictures from a kiosk.

It took about 10 minutes to cross this bridge...lots of people taking pictures.

Some more flowers that were in bloom. Again, not a clue what type they are.

A short break in a quiet area.
